Cookie Policy

How DashViz uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies.

DashViz uses limited browser storage to keep the app secure, remember preferences, operate the product, and measure public website traffic without analytics cookies.

Last updated: May 5, 2026

Product-first storage

DashViz uses cookies and browser storage primarily to run the app, keep sessions stable, remember preferences, and protect accounts.

Security support

Authentication, abuse prevention, and session reliability depend on cookies and local storage.

Browser controls

You can block or delete cookies in your browser, but some app features may stop working if necessary cookies are disabled.

No customer-data ad profiling

DashViz does not use Business Data to build third-party advertising profiles.

What counts as similar technology

Cookies are small files stored by a browser. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, IndexedDB, pixels, software development kits, browser identifiers, and server logs. DashViz may use these technologies directly or through Subprocessors and providers identified in the Privacy Policy.

DashViz does not use device fingerprinting to track users.

Cookies in use

The current set of cookies and storage entries is summarized below by category and provider. The list may change as the Service evolves.

Authentication and session — Clerk
Strictly necessary. Sets cookies and uses local storage to keep users signed in, manage multi-factor authentication, and protect accounts. Lifespan ranges from session to a small number of weeks per Clerk's defaults.
Hosting and routing — Vercel
Strictly necessary. Edge and routing cookies that may be set by the hosting platform to deliver pages and balance load. Lifespan per Vercel defaults.
Theme preference — DashViz
User-initiated preference. A single browser-storage entry recording the light/dark/system choice the user makes by clicking the theme toggle. Set only on that explicit user action and used solely to remember the user's chosen interface; not used for tracking, analytics, advertising, or profiling. Lifespan: persistent until cleared by the user.
Cookieless website analytics - Plausible
Analytics for public marketing pages. Plausible measures visits, referrers, pages, outbound links, and conversion events without setting cookies or building cross-site advertising profiles.

Why we use them

  • Authenticate users and keep sessions secure.
  • Remember the user's chosen theme when they click the theme toggle.
  • Route users to the right page and preserve expected app state.
  • Measure public marketing-page visits and conversion events through Plausible's cookieless analytics script.
  • Support session reliability and abuse prevention at the auth layer.

DashViz loads Plausible for cookieless website analytics. DashViz does not currently set analytics, advertising, profiling, or third-party tracking cookies. If we add consent-requiring marketing pixels or tracking tools in the future, this Policy and any required consent mechanism will be updated to match.

Sentry, our error-diagnostics provider (see Privacy Policy), is configured cookieless: it captures stack traces and breadcrumbs but does not set cookies in your browser. Session Replay and any first-party Sentry cookies are explicitly disabled.

Managing cookies and storage

Browser settings allow users to delete cookies, block cookies, clear local storage, or restrict tracking technologies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies or storage may prevent login, dashboard loading, demo use, theme persistence, or security features from working correctly.

Where required by law, DashViz will display a consent banner or preference center for non-strictly-necessary cookies. Choices made in any such banner will supplement browser-level controls.

Global Privacy Control and opt-out signals

Where required by applicable law, DashViz treats Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a valid request to opt out of sale or sharing of personal information for the browser sending the signal. As of the date of this Policy, DashViz does not sell or share (as those terms are defined under CCPA/CPRA) personal information, so there is no sale or sharing to opt out of. If that changes, this Policy will be updated and any required opt-out mechanism will be provided.

Changes to this Policy

DashViz may update this Cookie Policy as the Service, providers, or law changes. Material updates will be posted in the Service or on the website with an updated effective date.
